Quickest post on favicon’s

Favicon’s aren’t hard to do.  In fact it is very, very easy.  Especially if you go to freefavicon.com.  You just upload a square shaped picture and press get favicon.  Simple, now that I have a favicon file the tough part is getting it to where it is supposed to be, namely a root file folder or something.  Now I must go but will post later today.  It is nine-thirty in the morning.  I have spent the better part of the morning trying to get a favicon to appear beside my URL.  No success.  I can’t really figure it out since the validator from the website I generated the icon on seems to have confirmed I have one and the code is correct.  It sure would be nice if I could just have a little success but these four days have been really frustrating.  I haven’t the foggiest idea what to do now since I have exhausted all the information I mined from the net.

For, whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:12-13)

It took a long time for this post to arrive, which is funny because it still feels like Friday night.  Where did my weekend go?  I have been reflecting on what I want to write in this blog; I have things I like to talk about and things I know about but very few passions.  I like building despite the fact that I am not enthusiastic about my job.  I have this belief that every day at 4:30 I quit the construction firm I work for, that’s right.  I am no longer their employee after 4:30 in the afternoon and I can’t wait until I no longer have to go there.  But I like building things, when I am building for myself or for something other than money.  I like the regiment I am part of, but despise the mechanisms by which the army functions.  I like flying so much I have a pilots license but I can’t write with any authority on the subject.  I could write about real estate as I am up to my eyeballs in it with too much skin in the business, but everyone is an authority on that subject and passions are always aflame, very few people are level headed enough to understand that on a long enough time line all markets are bull markets.  But what is surfacing time and again is that I want to talk about salvation.  I am currently going through forty days of reading a book by Jack Duncan called The Kings Invitation.  I’m on day nine.  Jack hopes it helps a person forget themselves and focus on Jesus.  At the same time I have been praying to Jesus to help me order my financial house, make me a better person and help me to learn more about him.  So I might as well spend the next thirty-one days taking you with me on that road.  You’ll learn more about me and hopefully, and more importantly about Jesus Christ, resurrected, seated at the right of God and one day to return in power and glory.  Day nine; today what has been going through my head is Genesis 15:6, “Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.”  Why I had no idea.  And then I read Jack’s passage for the day and read through Genesis about Abram’s life.  He wasn’t perfect.  He ran hot and cold.  He feared Pharoah so much he let him take his wife, but he tore after the kings who kidnapped lot.  Sometimes was obedient to God, other times he wasn’t (think Hagar).  But the thing is he did believe God, and that was enough for God.  In Jack’s book he talks about the love of God.  How God loves everyone.  So much so that He sent his only begotten son (we are created sons and daughters) that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have ever lasting life.  It wasn’t what Abram did, though he wasn’t bad, he didn’t do enough to earn God’s favour.  It was that he trusted the Lord, believed in the Lord, knew the Lord was perfect.  That was what God creditted as righteousness.  For us today it is the same.  We need only to believe that something happened in Roman occupied Israel that changed the course of humanity forever.  Believe the words of the carpenter from Galilee and know that we can’t earn his Love, we already have it.  We aren’t going to be perfect but he still embraces us with his Love.  We have nothing to offer, but He’s not asking us for anything but to trust Him.  I’m tired and my prayer for today is that this at least makes a little sense.

I’ve hit a wall

OK.  So now the issue of learning has hit a little steeper curve.  I have no idea how to import plugins not already on my account.  I get these helpful installation guides but they do me no good since I can’t find [wordpress_dir]/wp-content/plugins/.  Apparently this is important and I have no idea where it is…and I have two unzipped plugins awaiting admission to my site.  The tragedy!  Oh well onto content.  I have this nagging feeling that I am gathering steam but to no avail.  I thought I could blog today about boxing (luvit), David Suzuki (h8him), Richard Dawkins (h8him), weddings, marriage, food, dollar store purchases, my wife’s nonstop talking when I’m trying to work on this and she wonders why I get up in the very early am when she is asleep to do this.  That is what I will blog about.  Distractions.  Probably the greatest problem for anyone is distractions.  I think that is why I like working in a skid steer so much.  The roar of the engine means I can’t hear anything even when the throttle is set to idle, the quick motion of the machine means people stay away, and the focus you have on the work and the connection you get to the machine is incredible.  I pop my clamshells onto my ears, close the door and fire up the engine.  It roars to life and I’m off…moving the world a third of a meter at a time.  Anytime you want to do something important focus is necessary.  It is integral.  Focus has to be achieved a few ways.  Solitude, or more to the point, the exclusion of those who dismiss your goal is imperitive.  They suck your time away from you in any number of meanial directions they think are important.  And the best time I know to find this time is in the early morning.  It is the best time of the day and I am really starting to prefer it to the late evening.  Noone is around, noone is about, noone has even thought about disrupting a person at work at that time.  Early AM is now one of my favourite times of the day.

Plugins

I should let you in on what I am up to…40 days of learning to blog.  I get up every morning early enough to eat breakfast and leave me about an hour for a devotional using Jack Duncans book The Kings Invitation and then read John Chows How to Blog ebook and attempt to learn one thing a day minimum with one post a day before work minimum.  Incidently 40 days was how long Jesus was fasting in the desert before Satan came to tempt him.  Today I checked out his plugins section and desided to add akismet which required a wordpress API key.  So all that is aquired including a Wordpress account.  Todays entry in Jacks book sent my mind to two passages, both are Jesus’ words.  “Seek first the Kingdom of God and all other things will be added to you.” and “I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.”

Time Stamps and Home Made McDonald’s!

200 words minimum.  With a time stamp…so it posts a little later.  And as I can see there is a word count over on the right that says 19 words.   Cool, you can’t see this it is in Word Press.  After posting yesterdays first comment my next one was to figure out the time stamp so a post appears at a set time.  And I want to add some content.  So I decided to write about how to make your own egg mcmuffin-like breakfast.  You need a microwave, frying pan, stove or hotplate, toaster, knife, small corningware cup (2 and a half inch diameter), cooking oil, butter, an egg, an english muffin, and some black forest ham.  This is pretty fast, takes less than three minutes.  Turn the stove on fairly high and put a little butter in the fry pan and let that warm up.  Put the english muffin in the toaster and push it down (make sure toaster is plugged in!).  Grab the corningware cup and smear cooking oil around the inside of the cup.  Crack your egg into the cup and discard the shell.  Break the yolk with the knife.  Put the egg into the microwave for 1 minute 10 seconds on high.  Now pop a slice of ham into the frying pan and give about 30 to 40 seconds of sizzling on both sides.  While the ham is frying the muffin should pop up.  Butter it and put it on a plate.  Next the egg will be ready.  Put that on the muffin.  And finally once your ham is done frying put that on the egg.  Close it up and savour a taste better than the clowns place.

Testing Testing 1..2..3

If you have navigated here I have no idea how.  Currently I am learning how to blog and use wordpress.  Feel free to check back and see how it is coming along.  It should have all the appearances of a child just learning to swim.  Well off to my real job now!
